JLBN – Windows Apache MySQL PHP – WAMP
WAMP stands for Windows, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. There are a lot of useful WAMP package out there and WampServer is one of the most easy to use and pack with very useful trayicon to manage your server and its settings.
WampServer is a Windows web development environment. It allows you to create web applications with Apache, PHP and the MySQL database. It also comes with PHPMyAdmin and SQLiteManager to easily manage your databases. WampServer installer installs automatically, and its usage is very intuitive. You will be able to tune your server without even touching the setting files.
WampServer is the only packaged solution that will allow you to reproduce your production server. Once WampServer is installed, you have the possibility to add as many Apache, MySQL and PHP releases as you want.
Thanks for the help and the pointers. I closed down all the other programs that were running in the background, including Net Nanny, AVG and SuperAntispyware and then started the installation. This time I received a request to unblock an Apache process from the Windows Firewall and then everything worked just fine.
Your help was much appreciated.
Yellow means you have another soft that prevents wamp to work, most likely antivirus or firewall or another webserver. BTW, router or not doesn’t affects wamp
and my Wamp tray icon colour is white with a yellowish left hand side!
With Firefox the screen is blank. With IE7 I get the “Internet Explorer cannot display the page” message. I have cleared the cache but it makes no difference. I installed Wampserver on a friends PC without problems, but the same process on my PC does not work (as above). I have copied the “working” installation over to my PC but the problem is the same. The only difference I can see is that I have an ADSL Router attached. Would this interfere?
Thanks
Hey Eddie,
Do you have that problem w/ any browser? Did you try to clean up your browser cache? By the way, what is the color of your wamp tray icon?
I downloaded and installed Wampserver 2.0b, following your guide but when I left-clicked on Localhost in the tray icon all I got was a blank page. The WAMP folder is installed in c:\wamp and I am not running any of the packages that you listed as may cause problems (skype, etc). Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks
Anyone is wildcard and if you’re not sure how to use them, you should delete them for your own security
lol, speant the best part of a week to set up and configure database, phpmyadmin, etc.
got it working and 2 mins later stumbled accross your tut which shows how to do it in 5 mins.
my sanity has taken a battering 🙂
Tom, what error do you have?
Thank you so much for the direction to the help page, I really appreciated it, it was easy to follow even for me, and I got through it with no problems at all. 🙂
Thanks!.
I torned off my computer and when I torned it on again, it works very good, I did what you told me, again in the new installation and the wampServer works.
Muchismas gracias por compartir tus conocimientos.

that’s what you call guiding..

For some scripts I have to cmod some files in order to let the script work. I have a windows xp server and the wampserver works. Normally I would start netdrive so a windows explorer opens and I can cmod files. With this wampserver on local pc I cannot login and netdrive says: Can’t connect to http://smartbizznizz.homelinux.com, Can’t resolve URL http://smartbizznizz.homelinux.com. Is there a guide where I can see what I should do to make that work or can somebody help me with that. I am a newbe so maybe it’s a small problem that I just can’t find.
I hope somebody can help me and even can read the problem because I am from the Netherlands my english isn’t always good.
Chris, make sure your WAMP tray icon is all white w/ little black lock in middle before setting up DB, and what step do you have the problem actually?
Thanks alot for these guides, quick concise, and generally fool-proof, although i still can’t get the database tutorial to work :'(
Thanks for comment and sorry for inconvenient
That page was for v1.x and disabled to modify for v2.x
Yellow icon means either Apache or MySQL is not running, so make sure you don’t have any of these software which might cause WAMP not run properly: IIS, Skype, Zone Alarm, NOD32, Eset, Internet Optimizer, Google Accelerator, any other web server or database server 🙁
In your guide, which I have followed faithfully, I have, for the second time, been unable to install WAMP correctly. There is a little yellow on the icon and I cannot access phpMyAdmin.
You guide suggests looking at the “Most common errors” but I have been quite unable to find them.
As I am very new to php I would be very grateful for any help.
Thank you,
Ron Ferguson
Thank you for all your guides. They were all well written and you save me from endless search for Faqs on wampserver. Keep up the good work.
Thanks 😉
Keep up good work!!!
