JLBN – Windows Apache MySQL PHP – WAMP

WAMP stands for Windows, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. There are a lot of useful WAMP package out there and WampServer is one of the most easy to use and pack with very useful trayicon to manage your server and its settings.

    The strange thing is…..

Temporary disable anti virus/firewall will not help, so you should uninstall both wamp and anti virus/ firewall then reinstall wamp before others

Great links. But It would be better if all the resources would be under a single roof…
    Thank you.

When “all the resources would be under a single roof…”, it would be too long, and when it’s too long, people might miss a step or two 🙁

Hi I’m having the same problem with the user name and password required. Looked at www file you mentioned and the only thing in there is index.php can’t find the htaccess file you speak of for password? Sorry real newby to this! Also have a 1/3 red on tray icon?

We don’t recall we mention htaccess in any of our guide; anyway, red color means your wamp is not running at all either you’ve already had another wamp package such as xampp, phpeasy… currently or before and its registries still in your computer, or your anti virus/firewall block this wamp, or you downloaded corrupted wamp installer due to overwhelm in sourceforge, so download another here
      http://downloads.jlbn.net/
When wamp run successful, follow this guide to setup password

Thanks for your comments, but if you follow our guide, blank space in path is NOT recommended 😉

For your installation guide: Installation had an error parsing line 434 in C:\Program Files (x86)\wamp\bin\apache\Apache2.2.11\bin\php.ini Added quotes around the path for the error_log to solve the problem. Also a helpful note for your guide: To redirect localhost to an exiting folder, change lines 178 and 205 of C:\Program Files (x86)\wamp\bin\apache\Apache2.2.11\conf\httpd.conf to your path. Everything working fine in XP x64.

I have the yellow in the left side of the wamp icon also. Wamp works locally for local host, the LAN domain and sub domains, I have a previous install of Mysql that I am using. I have removed the other apache server that was present before I installed wamp.. I have disabled my firewall, and antivir. I still have the yellow on the left. I am pretty sure I have the ports forwarded correctly but still can not get the wamp to serve to the net??? Any help would be greatly appreciated..P.S. great tutorials!!!

Define “share drive”? Is it in the same wamp computer or on network/usb?

Hi, I set up wamp 2 a while back and did not use the guide but looking at it now I did everything the same, save installing wamp to C:/program files, and everything works, including localhost. However when I make a script

    and save as phpinfo.html
    and open in the browser
    via http://localhost/php.html
it loads a white blank page, not an error page in netscape and firefox but IE warns about local intranet settings

The wamp icon is the standard white
I don’t know anything about server logs but the error (Apache) mine shows is for no Favicon.ico which obviously isn’t the problem.
if it’s not the code or address and localhost works
    I am using:
    Windows Vista Home Premium
Live One Care (Problem is the same if I shut down Windows Firewall)
and in addition to Wamp I’m Also Running SQL for use with Visual Developer
And I’m pretty Sure it was installed after Wamp but It did not work immediately after installation
    Anyone Have any Ideas

You’re missing setting vh for www folder and as result, it auto set folder domain as main document root, and thus, it only accept sub folder of that main

    @ Sean
It clearly stated in step 3: Uncomment the second line, and make sure there is no blank space in front of second line and in the end of first line or your wamp will not run. Anyway, check and make sure you perform step 2 and 3 precisely
