JLBN – Setup DNS on WAMP

Posted by BN July - 30 - 2008 9 Comments

There are too many Dynamic DNS sites out there, but for this tutor, we select ZoneEdit which is one of the most popular Dynamic DNS services among them, and they are also have great features about their sites which are loaded with tutorials and examples on how to setup and manage DNS and other settings for your domain name. Enjoy ;-)

Note: Even this guide is used for Wampserver, you can apply this method on other wamp package such as Xampp, EasyPHP, so on. Just make sure to select correct file(s) in proper location(s) ;)

What if I am using ISP with dynamic IP which..

How ZoneEdit will know my IP address everytime I change IP address?

    • JL says:

Hazizi, you need to google for some free ip updater and set it up to check your ip for a certain period time; for example, every 60 seconds; btw, if you don’t restart your router, your ip should not change ;) I mean you can restart your pc as many as you want but try to keep your main router run nonstop 24/7

Very nice site and guides! Bravo!
But as Jiri said the one about setup-dns is difficult to read due to the orange on blue (font) color.

Great tutorial. Thanks for taking the time to write it! If you are interested I have an in depth tutorial on setting up public and local virtual hosts and sub domains on Wamp here: http://www.itutorblog.com/2011/06/how-to-create-a-subdomain-on-wamp/

Is this really out of date? None of the instructions match at all what I see on zoneedits website.

Thank you for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbor were just preparing to do a little research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more clear from this post. I am very glad to see such magnificent info being shared freely out there.
