JLBN – Windows Apache MySQL PHP – WAMP

WAMP stands for Windows, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. There are a lot of useful WAMP package out there and WampServer is one of the most easy to use and pack with very useful trayicon to manage your server and its settings.

WampServer is a Windows web development environment. It allows you to create web applications with Apache, PHP and the MySQL database. It also comes with PHPMyAdmin and SQLiteManager to easily manage your databases. WampServer installer installs automatically, and its usage is very intuitive. You will be able to tune your server without even touching the setting files.

WampServer is the only packaged solution that will allow you to reproduce your production server. Once WampServer is installed, you have the possibility to add as many Apache, MySQL and PHP releases as you want.

I have investigated this setup for more than 3 days and followed several sugestions to configure and resintalled wamp several times just in case, but it does not work

I enter tecnostyle.us and it takes me to the server and displays the site but only on the local server, responding “localhost//tecnostyle/index.php”.

It is obvious I can not reach the site from any foreing system because it responds localhost… saying site is not available

what can I do for this ?.

      Hey,
Did you read this page before you jump in?
      http://guides.jlbn.net/
To be exact, you have to do couple things so starting with that page would give you some information where and what to do.
Post back here if still more help.

I have obtained static ip from my isp they have help me and shown me how port 80 can be forwarded so as I can use wamp with my web domain.
I have booked my web domain through go daddy, and inserted my static ip to dns in my web domain.
I have prepared my virtual host page as per your virtural host per your direction, and also changed, my windows host file, and have inserted my staic ip + my webdomain, and for localhost I have changed my computer ip and delted 127.0.0.1.

I have changed port for skype from 80 to 443, I have disabled iis.

Service status for port 80 when tested through wamp says your port 80 is actually not used

Now in wamp apache is not working at all
    can you give me solution

I am Sunil Pandya, I am from Mumbai India

I’ve setup something very siilamr for a client but I use a file as the template for the vhost configuration and I change some tags into domain name and whatever else is needed. this way the template is easier to read.one thing that could make your script friendlier would be to verify the apache config files for syntax before restart with apache2ctl -S’.lastly, apache2ctl graceful’ would be better than restart’ since it doesn’t terminate current connections.

I’m in a bind here. I do have web space but I’m trying to build a database with all 1800+ songs I have so my customers can search it. My server is having issues so I want to make the entries at home and then just import the DB to my web server.

I have installed, & un-installed multiple times and I can’t get it to work. When I run the html page and it calls the PHP page instead of processing it the code prints out on the page. I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s wrong.

The only question I have is could there be a conflict with ports and would that cause this issue? I have a cloud device on port 80 but I’m not using WAMP on the net. I do access my cloud device via the net.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’d even be real happy to make a donation if you could get me through this problem.

Hope you’ve already find the answer by now, but if not, your issue is some routers don’t support NAT so you can only check it from outside your LAN or better just replace your router

Hemantha, make sure no other program conflict Wamp such as IIS, Microsoft Web Deploy, Web Deployment Agent Service, SQL, Skype, Zonealarm, firewall/antivirus, NOD32, Eset, any web related program including Remote Desktop, Teamviewer or Apache, MySQL, PHP outside wamp folder (ie. in Program Files or System32 folder) …

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

      Disable IIS in Vista/W7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

      Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

      Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

      127.0.0.1 localhost

If using Skype, open Skype > Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection then uncheck “use port 80…” restart Wamp then Skype

hello there and thank you for your information – I have
definitely picked up something new from right here.
I did however expertise several technical issues using this website, as I experienced
to reload the site many times previous to I could get it to load properly.
I had been wondering if your web hosting is OK? Not that I’m complaining, but slow loading instances times will often affect your placement in google and can damage your high quality score if ads and marketing with Adwords. Anyway I’m
adding this RSS to my email and could look out for a lot more of your respective exciting content.
Ensure that you update this again very soon.

Hi, I just wanted to say thanks for ResetMySQL. I’m setting up OwnCloud using WAMP and something I did caused a #1045 error when trying to reach the phpMyAdmin page. When I reset my password to no password at all, I got into the page but my databases were missing and the log file still complained about “invalid password for user”. I’m still a noob when it comes to this stuff. Your ResetMySQL download & instructions saved my bacon. Thanks!!

When working through the setup of WAMP, on your step 15 when I click phpmyadmin, I get “You don’t have permission to access /phpmyadmin/ on this server.” What do I do from here? This is on my home computer under a user with admin privileges on Windows 7 and when I installed Wamp I used “run as admin.” Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Angela, there is nothing to do with computer admin or admin privileges but it means either your wamp is not running properly or you have another server running in your computer so make sure you don’t have any Apache, MySQL, PHP, phpMyAdmin outside Wamp folder, and of course make sure your wamp tray icon is green color, too

    Hello,
I am attempting to add the WAMP server so I can load data into my MySQL database. I’ve normally run databases on linux and LOAD DATA works fine there, but evidently windows puts invisible characters in their text files that gives MySQL issues. Online forums suggested WAMPServer and PHPAdmin as the solution. I downloaded and followed the directions as stated, but I get “access denied” as it is trying to log into the root account without using the password. How do I add the password? Also, the W icon is yellow not green. Where can I find out what that means?
    Thanks

    Hey Bud,

Tried working through some of your suggestions on your website but to no avail I find myself here.

My current quandary is that I am trying to link wamp/wordpress to my domain name that I have purchased. WAMP is installed fine and works (got the green icon) and WordPress is installed as well wamp/www/*projecname*/wordpress

How do I get these two software systems to talk to one another? I was bringing up my domain on the interwebs where it would say “Access Forbidden”…

I guess I spoke too soon. After modifying those files for assigning a virtual domain name as suggested in your blog I now cannot access “localhost” for which I am receiving the same error. I will go back and restore the default files so atleast that will be fixed.

If you can provide any help I’d be greatly appreciated. I am at my wits end here.

    Thanks

    ~Marc

Marc, you should setup VH instead; then, you can type ‘http://site1’ to show the webpage and/or content of folder c:\wamp\www\site1, for example, ‘http://site2’ to show the webpage and/or content of folder c:\wamp\www\site2, ‘http://site3’ to show the webpage and/or content of folder c:\wamp\www\site3 … in additions, you can add their shortcuts to custom WAMP Menu for quick access; check screenshot below 😉

      http://jlbn.com/web/VHshortcuts.html

No matter within or outside LAN access, you need to setup Access, DNS, and VH; Access for permission to connect to your Wamp PC, DNS to tie Domain(s) to your Wamp PC, and VH to host multiple Domains/Websites/IP’s and even you have only 1 Domain/IP, you should use VH to set it up w/ the site you want to show up first on top and localhost on bottom and others in middle if having more than 1 website; w/ VH, other PC’s, no matter w/i or outside LAN, can access/see websites/contents of that particular folder set for that particular VH on your wamp PC. If dont have real Domain, just skip DNS guide

      To setup Access, follow this
      http://blog.jlbn.net/?p=21

      To setup VH, follow this
      http://blog.jlbn.net/?p=23

      To setup DNS, follow this
      http://blog.jlbn.net/?p=28

To setup Custom Menu, follow this
      http://blog.jlbn.net/?p=112

Note that WordPress use absolute link(s), so remove your current WordPress then you MUST follow all 3 guides to setup Access, VH, and DNS first, then use the setting for your domain in your VH to setup WordPress; for example, you setup VH and DNS for your domain ‘http://your_domain.com’; then use ‘http://your_domain.com’ to setup WordPress; similarly, I’ve setup VH and DNS for http://blog.jlbn.net then use http://blog.jlbn.net to setup WordPress

In other words, if setup VH for wamp/www/*projecname*/wordpress folder and DNS for http://your_domain.com, just copy the content of WordPress into wamp/www/*projecname*/wordpress folder; then, in the browser, type in http://your_domain.com to begin installing WordPress from there.

Here is the guide to show how we’ve installed WordPress so you can get the idea if you’ve used different way:
      http://blog.jlbn.net/?p=34

If still have issue, post back here 🙂
