{"id":8239,"date":"2022-06-14T18:39:17","date_gmt":"2022-06-14T23:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.jlbn.net\/?p=8239"},"modified":"2022-06-19T14:46:05","modified_gmt":"2022-06-19T19:46:05","slug":"after-struggling-to-land-a-job-post-grad-gen-z-entrepreneur-maya-ray-launched-a-vending-machine-business-thats-made-119k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.jlbn.net\/?p=8239","title":{"rendered":"After Struggling To Land A Job Post Grad, Gen Z Entrepreneur Maya Ray Launched A Vending Machine Business That&#8217;s made $119K"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Maya Ray is what we call post-grad goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During her time as a college student, the Gen Z\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/afrotech.com\/listicle\/jennifer-lopez-grameen-america-latina-entrepreneurs\/\" target=\"_blank\">entrepreneur<\/a>\u00a0brainstormed a business idea that would have her financially set post-grad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A month after graduating from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/afrotech.com\/listicle\/ludacris-to-receive-honorary-degree-from-georgia-state-university-this-is-a-dream-come-true-for-me\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Georgia State University,<\/a>&nbsp;the alumna launched FYC Vending \u2014 a vending machine company \u2014 which has generated $119,000 in sales, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/how-to-start-vending-machine-business-make-six-figures-2022-6\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Business Insider.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>How It All Started<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While in a job drought following her&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/afrotech.com\/listicle\/hbcus-historically-black-colleges-and-universities-most-profitable\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">graduation,<\/a>&nbsp;Ray decided to look elsewhere for potential opportunities. Her exploration led her to come across&nbsp;a course on starting a vending machine business. It was taught by Marcus Gram, who went on to become her mentor. Recalling the lack of spots for late-night munchies when she attended college, her alma mater\u2019s campus turned into her first client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Advice On Starting A Vending Business<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To make a profit, you have to put your own dime into starting a new business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Ray has three vending machines at Georgia State University and two at Kennesaw State University that are returning more of what she has invested to keep them running. In the decision-making for where to install her machines, Ray \u201cfirst looks at the number of students living in the building and the number of employees working there. Then she thinks about who will have access to the machines and whether they will need them,\u201d per the outlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI learned to do more research and get a full story before jumping in, especially if it\u2019s going to be a big investment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Teaching Her Generation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ray plans on using her success story to help other aspiring entrepreneurs reach the same level. In the near future, she wants to spread the knowledge of how to start a vending machine business at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/afrotech.com\/listicle\/atlanta-blockchain-center-startup-incubator\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Atlanta-area<\/a>&nbsp;colleges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy passion is to introduce the younger generation to it so that they have someone they can ask questions or have a better idea of \u200b\u200bhow the industry really works and what they need to do to be successful in it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maya Ray is what we call post-grad goals.
