JLBN – Windows Apache MySQL PHP – WAMP

WAMP stands for Windows, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. There are a lot of useful WAMP package out there and WampServer is one of the most easy to use and pack with very useful trayicon to manage your server and its settings.

WampServer is a Windows web development environment. It allows you to create web applications with Apache, PHP and the MySQL database. It also comes with PHPMyAdmin and SQLiteManager to easily manage your databases. WampServer installer installs automatically, and its usage is very intuitive. You will be able to tune your server without even touching the setting files.

WampServer is the only packaged solution that will allow you to reproduce your production server. Once WampServer is installed, you have the possibility to add as many Apache, MySQL and PHP releases as you want.

I have wamp 2 installed and have been following a course php mysql beyond the basics.

I am at a stage where I can move a photo by a form to a folder and then the info is transferred into the database.

To view the photos however, does not work. I get the placeholder but no image on a list photos page. All the source and code appears correct and can be copied from his tutorial should you go wrong.

I am using xp. I am completely baffled. the image info comes up in firefox when right clicked with alt text missing but there wasn’t any there initially. Image info but no image- what am I doing wrong?

David, to store media files such as images, audio, video, … in mysql, you need to set them as BLOG type, but this will extremely slow down your server performances and you also need php script to encode/decode media files every time they’re accessed, so the better approach is store media files in your pc/server and only store paths/url’s in mysql 😉

I am getting the following error on phpadmin page.

Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.33. This may cause unpredictable behavior.

How can i get by versions same.

    help me.

srinivas, don’t worry about it because it’s just the bug from php and there is no effect about it so far 😉

Again crystal clear. Working at the first shot. Perfection does not exist but you aren’t far away !

Maybe a quick comment: should be clear at the beginning to switch off wamp before modiying both configuration’s files. A detail.

When your firewall popup for permission, you MUST select always allow; if firewall is not popup, you have to manually add exception for wamp in firewall

Anybody have a idea for a good smtp or mail server?

Using the mail function within php and setting the smtp in the php.ini file to smtp.telenet.be (telenet being my ISP) is not given me a error in the contact script but the email is not sent.

    Thanks

    Hi everone,

I have installed winamp server on a xp pro version.

All worked fine, even access by other computers, so all ports needed open, etc

Following this guide i’v prepared to run multiple hosts via vhost.

Did all like this guide is telling.

    Now my problem, since i did this locally all still works but access from outside world give me the following error;

    Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

on all virtual domeins, when i reset all modifications the problem is not gone, whill it was as said working before.

So, what is wrong, anybody here that can help me out please

Definately a bug in MySQL or Wamp…

#1045 – Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: NO)

Well actually yes I do have a password and I can login to the command console with it…

    Next….

Download “Reset MySQL” from this website…

I did – I copied the files to the correct location and now what do I get ???

#1045 – Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: NO)

    Yeah right…

And if thats not a huge blundering bug then just call me Moses.

By the way, have you ever thought about using “several pages” , like, Page 1, Page 2, etc. for this comment section… its kinda getting absurdly long…

XTC, after using resetmysql, you are back to default which is user “root” with no password. Also, make sure you did not setup password in file config.inc.php in folder phpmyadmin; if not sure, open file config.inc.php and edit this line

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'DeleteAnythingInThisSingleQuote'; // MySQL password (only needed

      To setup password, follow this

About the comment page is too long, we’re working on it 😉

here are the domains & subdomains i’m hosting:

    Quoting Domains & subdomains:
    http://www.disop.ph http://mail.disop.ph http://blog.disop.ph http://fci.disop.ph http://www.philfeffars.tk

    i activated the httpd-vhosts.conf:

    Order Deny,Allow
    Allow from all

    NameVirtualHost *

    ServerName disop.ph
    ServerAlias http://www.disop.ph
    ServerAdmin admin@disop.ph
    DocumentRoot “d:/webfolder/disop”
    DirectoryIndex index.html
    CustomLog logs/disop_access.log common
    ErrorLog logs/disop_error.log

    ServerName blog.disop.ph
    ServerAlias blog.disop.ph
    ServerAdmin admin@disop.ph
    DocumentRoot “D:/webfolder/disop/wordpress”
    DirectoryIndex index.php
    CustomLog logs/disop_access.log common
    ErrorLog logs/disop_error.log

    ServerName fci.disop.ph
    ServerAlias fci.disop.ph
    ServerAdmin admin@disop.ph
    DocumentRoot “D:/webfolder/disop/fci-blog”
    DirectoryIndex index.php

When i test the domains on the server. it’s doing fine…

so here’s the problem: when i try to access the domains offsite, only the disop.ph and its sub-domains will load properly, when i try the philfeffars.tk still the http://www.disop.ph index page loads…

red means no service running, so make sure you dont’ have anything in this list: IIS, Skype, Zone Alarm, NOD32, Eset, Internet Optimizer, Google Accelerator, any other database server, any other webserver? also make sure you’ve already add exception for wamp in all firewalls; if not sure how to, check our guide here

    Hi,
I’m not an expert on PHP, the opposite, I’m a newbie, but here I’m involved with my nephew’s website ALL in php . . .
I’ve been studying php and I think I can perform the changes needed.
But to avoid uploading the test pages, I installed WAMP and did the most reading I could.
The only problem is that I read – somewhere – and I don’t remember where.
IE doesn’t render the php page, instead, asks if I want to open or save de file . . .
    I remember that it’s a setup missing but again, I don’t remember.
    Could you pls help me?
Thanks in advance for your time and help.
    truly
    tony
