JLBN – Setup MySQL Database on WAMP
In this guide for WAMP, we will show you how to install and setup a database account for WAMPSERVER which includes a database, a username and a password. There are too many ways to create a database account, so here we only show one method which is the easiest, simplest, and security, in which a user canΒ ONLY see and manipulate her assigned database.
Note: For different applications and/or users, you should create a new separate database account for each
Note: Even this guide is used for Wampserver, you can apply this method on other wamp package such as Xampp, EasyPHP, so on. Just make sure to select correct file(s) in proper location(s) π
This is fucking retarded. Not only is your English crap and incredibly difficult to understand (are you aware of what punctuation is?) but this guide is completely old and outdated, yet there are no other guides on how to use PHPMyAdmin anywhere else on the internet? What the fuck is up with that? I installed WAMP to help me with my Uni work, but its just fucking useless. It comes with no documentation and I am forced to go to pages like that that were obviously made pre 21sty Century.
We’re busy to work with Android and didn’t play with WAMP for “quite” awhile; anyway, just check the latest PHPMyAdmin and this method still works like a charm π
Ur guide is nice but I ve a problem wit d wampserver version am havin here is different pls I can’t log out @lesson7. Pls help me out am willing 2 learn ..tnk u
amaka okafor, can you post a little more detail what error you encounter? Then we can help you from there π
Where can I find a tutorial that explains how to create change add modify tables to databases in WAMP server.
the inclusion of a single flash fla. would have saved the time in clicking the jpg image and the back button a number of times.
I’m a designer and i’m still new to the whole php,sql and ajax.
I came her to learn but was put off by the navigation.
otherwise good tute I suppose.
do all devs use the wordpress/drupal format cos this makes devs look lazy lol.
it would be like me saying check out google images.
Pedski, some people just follow the guide without looking at the image and if including the image in the guide would make the image too small to see; thus, we have no choice but separate them π

Just thought that I would point out that there is dissicsuon going on in the forum about WAMP vrs XAMPP, so if you’ve used both, or have a preference, we’d love to hear about it! As far as the article goes! Great work Monie, I certainly can’t wait to give WAMP a try to see how it works! Thanks for the useful guide!
Hi all,
We do use both WAMP and XAMPP and each has its own advantages and disadvantages, so here some thoughts which might not reflect everything, thus if missing something, feel free to add.
Let’s start with the installation. WAMP is for Win only while XAMPP can be set up in different OS, and I believe that’s the X stands for, however, after initial setup, it can only runs in that OS so 1 USB can’t be used on both Win and Mac.
Next is the control. XAMPP until now still uses a control Windows and it’s pretty much all you have since you can’t add or remove anything and also you have to start and stop each app while WAMP has a system tray and you can start and stop everything with just 1 click and the plug part is that you can optimize to integrate your own app/link into that menu. Both have HOME page but XAMPP is quite useless since its Home page only contain information while WAMP include the Document Root which shows all folders/projects you have. With the experts, they can easily make up some scripts to have a nice customized Home page; however, with some newbie, it’s not very easy as it seems, so the plug with WAMP Home page is the beginners can learn this initial scripts to expanding to have like User Accounts and/or Database Accounts right on the Home page or at least just enjoy the convenience to go directly to folder instead clicking through to find one.
For usage, XAMPP already installed a lot of useful apps like Perl and especially Mail Server since it’s not easy to integrate Mail Server into AMP package, but, a very big BUT, it’s your own responsibility to protect your own Mail Server, which is not easy at all because even Google, Microsoft and Yahoo have issue with Mail Server protection, so don’t be surprise if you would sit in jail one day because spammers or hackers take control over your Mail Server to send out some, I meant millions, illegal contents.
There might be more but we don’t really use them every day but hope this post would give you some ideas.
Again, fell free to add or correct.
your guides are good and very easy to follw.
I have installed the wamp serve and tried the code to create database using the php code below but it only returns blank page without any error message what could be the problem:
eric, please use this link to convert your code into WordPress-friendly post so we can see the code π
